SPiiPlus Control Module (CM) combines an advanced multi-axis motion controller with integrated digital servo drives. The SPiiPlus CM's integrated design is ideal for stage manufacturers, systems integrators, and OEMs.
At the heart of the SPiiPlus CM is a multi-processor distributed architecture. The main engine is a Pentium Compatible motion processing unit (MPU). The MPU is complemented by SPii™ servo processors, developed by ACS-Tech80 to provide real time control. The SPii chip comprises a 120MHz RISC processor core and peripherals that meet the needs of demanding motion control applications. Standard controller features include PIV filter, automatic velocity feedforward , acceleration feedforward, notch filter, second order low pass filter, digital current control, automatic sinusoidal commutation for all axes, and a 20kHz execution rate.
The controller's capabilities include multi-axis interpolation, inverse kinematics, PV spline motion, tight trajectories, position and I/O synchronization, support for sin-cos encoder inputs, sub-nanometer resolution and superior position and velocity accuracy and stability.
The integrated drives are software configuration for both brushless and brushed servo motors. The drives operate on supply voltages from single- or three-phase 17 to 265Vac or 24 to 375Vdc and output current of 5A continuous/10A peak or 10A continuous/20A peak (sine wave amplitude). The SPiiPlus CM also includes pulse and direction outputs for supporting up to three open loop stepper drives.
The SPiiPlis CM can operate as a standalone unit or can communicate with other devices via ES-232/422/485 serial channels (115,000 bps) and an Ethernet 10/100 BaseT channel. Communication over all channels can take place in parallel.
Windows tools, including a controller simulator and soft scope, are provided for tuning, programming, and troubleshooting, C, C++, and Visual Basic libraries are included, supporting Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP and real-time operating systems (Venturecom RTX and On-Time). The SPiiPlus CM is manufactured under an ISO 9001 certified quality management system, meeting stringent safety and EMC standards.
