Swiss tradition and innovation in the House of Switzerland 2008.

From 1 - 24 August 2008 maxon motor will be present at an Expo stand in the House of Switzerland which will be representing Switzerland at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. By doing so, the world's leading supplier of high-precision drives and systems is showing that tradition and modernity can live side by side in Central Switzerland.

The general public, both Chinese and international alike, can visit the House of Switzerland where they will experience typical Swiss cuisine, singing and hospitality, but they will also see how innovative products in the heart of Switzerland set the world in motion.

maxon motor's microdrives help start up all kinds of applications that have to be driven reliably and with accuracy, the most famous example of which involves space travel. NASA's two Mars Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, have proved that maxon drives are completely reliable, even under the toughest conditions. Fitted with 39 of maxon's micromotors each, they are still discovering distant celestial bodies some 250 million miles away. NASA originally expected them to last just three months. It is hardly surprising that maxon motors are also widely distributed around the world.

In the House of Switzerland in Beijing, visitors will be able to see where maxon's micromotors are used and how the small power packs drive our lives forward. In addition, NASA's Spirit Rover - reconstructed here by maxon motor - shows friends from distant universes how man is searching for signs of life on our neighbouring Red Planet.
